Alanis Morissette surprised a Nashville, TN, audience on June 23rd when she brought her young daughter onstage for a duet of her legendary hit, Ironic.
Alanis’ daughter just turned eight, and to celebrate, she got to perform for a giant crowd alongside hersuperstar mom. By her beaming smile and tangible joy, it looked like it was the best gift she could have recieved.
Onyx belted the lyrics as though she’d done it a million times. And as she sang, Alanis let Onyx take the lead and smiled with pride as her daughter showed complete confidence.
When the mother-daughter duo wrapped up, the crowd went wild and made sure Onxy knew her performance was appreciated.
Alanis Morissette’s husband, Souleye, and son Winter Mercy were on hand for the duet, as well. The couple also shares a second son, Ever Imre, 13.

Following the show, Alanis Morissette took to social to gush over the special memory.
In an Instagram post, the 50-year-old shared a picture of her sweet performance with Onyx. In it, the two look into each other’s eyes and smile.
