Anthony Hopkins & Sir Ian McKellen Break Out Matching Jackets And Share A Dance To Celebrate Ian’s Recovery

Anthony Hopkins Ian McKellen

Anthony Hopkins is celebrating Sir Ian McKellen’s “unbreakable spirit” following Ian’s terrifying fall earlier this month.

Anthony shared an Instagram video on June 23rd that showed him and Ian dancing and smiling to Leonard Cohen’s Dance Me To The End Of Love. The actors wore matching plaid jackets and shared a few hugs between spins.

“Today I celebrate my dear friend, Ian, and his unbreakable spirit… I love this man,” Anthony captioned. “‘We both have our Gucci on…’🕺🏻🕺🏻”

Anthony didn’t specify if he captured the video before or after Ian’s fall on June 17.

“My heart ❤️,” actress Anna Friel commented. “Two of the greatest minds and souls, Together.”

“Love the matching jackets ❤️ what a truly wonderful and happy post ❤️,” added a fan. “Thank you both for your talent and sensitivity ❤️.”

“Yes, Yes, two wonderful actors,” wrote another fan. “Great energy, and good vibes.”

Sir Ian McKellen Plans To Return To The Stage In July

The BBC reported that Sir Ian McKellen was injured while he was performing in Player Kings at the Noël Coward Theatre in London. During a flight scene, the 85-year-old seemingly lost his footing and fell off the stage. The actor was rushed to a hospital, and a representative later announced that doctors expected him to “make a speedy and full recovery.”

Ian spent three nights in the hospital and has reportedly been in “good spirits” since the incident. Fans originally expected him back on stage last week. However, several shows were canceled and an understudy took Ian’s place when it returned. That actor will continue as a stand-in throughout the month. Ian plans on returning to work on July 3.
