Most little girls dream of their wedding day, from what the flowers will look like to what dress they’ll wear and who will marry them.
Brittany Adkins was no exception to that rule. She had always wanted her grandfather, Reverend Ronald Adkins (aka PawPaw) to officiate her ceremony. Unfortunately, though, PawPaw didn’t make it to her big day, passing away just over a year before her wedding. Brittany was devastated but accepted what she couldn’t change.
Luckily, her groom, Jordon Yost, and the bride’s brother and sister worked miracles.
The couple began the ceremony.
Photographer Sarah Irvin wrote in a Facebook post:
“As the preacher asked everyone to bow their heads in prayer, a voice came over the loud speaker. It was the bride’s grandfather who had been called Home last year. He prayed over them & then announced them as husband and wife.”
Brittany broke down.
PawPaw had officiated Brittany’s sister’s wedding in 2015 and they had managed to find a recording of the final part of the ceremony to play for the bride.
It was a moment “she’d cherish forever,” she told TODAY
Luckily, she was surrounded by loving support.
It wasn’t just the couple who was moved to tears, though. Most people felt the power of the magical moment.
Brittany got her wedding wish and couldn’t have been happier for it. “My dreams came true having him there today,” she said.
Brittany’s PawPaw was there in spirit and it meant the world to her.
