There comes a time in every child’s life when they no longer believe in Santa. For parents, it can be a bittersweet moment. It means that our “baby” is growing up. Sometimes, kids hear that parents are the real Santa at school. Sometimes, older siblings break the news. He took a few minutes with the young lady to redefine what Santa stands for. His focus was on giving. Instead of insisting that she believes in Santa, he offers a message of kindness and love. He continued, telling the child that she was at the age where it is now her turn to give. He calmly explains that it is time for her to become part of the “spirit of Christmas.”
Continuing, he talks about giving, but not just money or gifts. He speaks of giving of yourself by helping other people. Santa speaks of the importance of a smile to a stranger or the gift of a gentle hello. He tells the young girl that Santa is about loving and caring for one another. He gently points to her heart and tells her that the magic of Santa begins right there, in her heart.
The message that this Santa took the time to explain can help people all year. His simple message to be loving and kind transcends generations, cultures, and religions. Just be nice and give of yourself. Great messages for any person in any season.
Please share if being nice is on your to-do list.
