Geography tends to be a subject that people feel pretty confident in… until they have to actually put their knowledge to the test.

A few years ago, Buzzfeed decided to test their counterparts across the pond. Everyone in the London Buzzfeed office was given a blank map of the United States of America and asked to label the fifty states by name.
Unfortunately, the British Buzzfeed employees did not do so well with their maps. Though the general consensus seemed to be that they just did not know much about the layout of the United States, their attempts to name each state is too hilarious to not share.
#1: The very best part about this first one is that Paul wrote his name at the top, giving himself away. Ironically, Paul happens to be the Foreign News Editor.

#2: There is just too much to say about this map. California has song lyrics, Hawaii is apparently “baked Alaska,” and South Dakota ran out of space in the Midwest. My personal favorite is that, apparently, we have a new state named New Essex.

#8: For everyone living in the “Flyover” states, don’t worry, we love you.

#9: Florida has a really cute sun with cool sunglasses, and I am sure California is jealous.

#14: Hold on, I am busy moving to Lake America where I plan to spend all of my days splashing in the water.

#15: And finally, this person labeled Alaska on their map as “East Russia.”
