At 76 years old, this lovely lady is no stranger to the spotlight. She has quite the following on social media, often sharing fun videos and photos. While her content is largely comedic, she sings from time to time, too. Still, this would be her first time on a stage since 1966, making her both thrilled and, no doubt, a bit nervous. What could be better than 76-year-old Bette auditioning for The Voice? Her doing so with the iconic hit Rapper’s Delight. The original version is a whopping 15 minutes long, so it’s no wonder this talented granny had to shorten it by a good bit. It’s clear, however, that the portion she chose was perfect because she absolutely killed it!
“I haven’t been on stage since 1966. But, at 76, you’re still a young thing if it’s in your mind,” Bette shares. “I want to do myself proud and I want to make my family proud. It’s a big privilege to be here.”

It’s safe to say that Bette very much made her family proud! Her son, Stewart Reynolds (who is also a social media star), was happy to share what a beautiful moment this was for his mom. This is especially true because of how tough this year has been. But throughout all of the bad, there has been a lot of good, too.
“My Mom has been having a year,” Stewart writes. “She was 24/7 caregiver for my Dad who had dementia for years. Dad died in January. She filmed The Voice UK in February. She released 2 songs since and we just finished filming her Christmas music video. She’s an inspiration.”
We can’t wait to see what this sweet lady does in the battle phase of the competition!
