When someone posted an 8-year-old child’s to-do list on Reddit, the post gathered a following. It has been shared on several other Reddit forums and social media outlets. The list, written on a sheet of regular notebook paper, seems to be posted on the family fridge. Typically, a to-do list is used to help maintain focus and complete necessary tasks and chores on time. This child’s list may not be typical, but it contains an astonishing insight into life.

Almost every item on the list is consistent with an 8-year-old’s priorities. “Play with Dad” and “Be helpful to Daddy” stand out. What a great kid. “Pet Cash, feed Cash, let Cash out” leads us to believe that the child has a pet and is sharing the responsibility of caring for it. Reading and learning also appear on the list, which are good activities for any child.

The list includes “Play loud libraireins” which most probably references the game, Really Loud Librarians. Like the to-do list items “read” and “learn,” this game helps with both activities and is pretty wholesome. The young kid also wants to order a game.

The last activity is “Go to goodwill.” We’re not sure what the child intends to do there. He may be shopping or dropping stuff off for donation. Either way, that’s a pretty noble endeavor. However, none of these typical to-do list items raised eyebrows.

The To-Do List Items We Need To Remember

The first item and the third from the bottom caused all the intrigue with this post. The first thing on this kid’s to-do list is “Be weird.” Most kids don’t want to be weird. They’d rather fit in and be normal, so we applaud this kid for wanting to be different. This task can go in many directions.

The item that caused most of the conversation is “Be content.” There is so much wisdom in those two little words. Many adults mentioned the need to add that to their to-do list. Be content. A simple message with a huge impact. No matter what cards life deals you, if you remember this child’s simple message, you will win the card game. Be content. Enjoy what you have.

Some comments included messages such as “I want to be like this child when I’m older,” from user TargetWeird. User Ipickscabs added, “If everybody could just be weird and content this world would be a wonderful place.” The entire thread on Reddit is impressive, from the message on this child’s to-do list to the admiration from adults who realize that the world needs change. The message is one that we can all use in our day-to-day lives.

Please share if you enjoyed this message and if you know someone who needs to “Be content.”
