The combination would be Bonadona-Bartlebaugh. While it rolls off the tongue with surprising ease, it is cumbersome. Their poor children will have to request an extra sheet of paper just to write their entire name on assignments.
Since you can literally change your names to anything when you get married, they might consider Bonabaugh, Bartledona, Bonabartle, Donabaugh, or any number of other combinations. Or they could just skip the combination efforts and go with Smith or Jones. The proposal might offer a clue about what we’re in for.
After that proposal, it’s a toss-up whether they can “stand” the pressure of choosing. They totally fell for one another!
The debate is raging because they both like their last names. She has used her last name since high school and has pretty much forgotten her real first name. We’re not using it out of respect for their preference.
She could also make her first name Bonadona. She has worked under the name Bona Bones, which appears on some of her film accomplishments. The transition wouldn’t be hard. But then her children wouldn’t share her name unless they reverted to the hyphenated version on their birth certificates.
