Welcome to winter, also known as “Why won’t my dog come in out of the cold?” If you have a cold-weather dog, you know exactly what the owner of this Bernese mountain dog is talking about. Great Pyrenees, huskies, malamutes, and Bernese mountain dogs are all cold-weather dogs. When the snow flies, good luck getting them to return to the heated warmth of your home.

Ivy didn’t even wait for the snow to arrive. When temperatures reached below 60 degrees, she refused to come in for her Dad. The argument that resulted from her stubbornness is quite typical of cold-weather breeds.
Please note that Ivy’s aggressive wrestling is an acceptable play routine. Her Dad assures us they play rough and that Ivy knows her limits. When she “bites,” she does not clamp down. She is quite comfortable on the outdoor sofa, and the temperature is perfect.
Ivy’s Dad keeps track of her antics on TikTok. He chronicled her “Year in 20 Seconds” and posted a short clip for each month. You can see how much Ivy enjoys the outdoors. After about a minute of trying to get Ivy inside, the dog attempted the total flop. She rolled onto her back and sprawled to remain outside.
Round one of this saga ended with Ivy still on the couch. She accidentally punched her Dad’s phone while they were wrestling for superiority. Round two began with Ivy finally off the couch. However, she was clearly in the mood to play outside.
She still had plenty of feistiness stored up and ready to avoid going inside. Round two involved a bit of chasing, some hide-and-seek, and exasperated sighs from Dad. Ultimately, Ivy got to stay outside.
