When a group of friends in Portugal spotted a pair of cats sitting in a balcony above them, they figured the most logical thing to do was sing to them! Rita Dias caught the most hilarious video of her besties trying to entertain the adorable felines. In order to make their music more accessible to the animals, they meowed the melody instead of singing the lyrics. While we’re not sure if these kitties actually enjoyed the performance, the humans seemed to be having a great time!

In Rita’s video, her friends decided to sing Billie Eilish’s What Was I Made For to the cats. They swayed back and forth together as they gently meowed the melancholy tune. Meanwhile, the two felines in the balcony did not seem particularly amused. In fact, one of them almost looked like they were glaring! Of course, they could have just had the sun in their eyes.
This clip has received over 75 million views on social media! Commenters couldn’t get over the cats’ reactions to hearing these humans sing.
“They were not impressed,” wrote one user.
Another added, “The orange cat looked so offended.”
These friends didn’t invent the “meow” version of the Billie Eilish song.
What makes this footage even more hilarious is that this friend group wasn’t just singing a cat-friendly rendition of a popular song. They were referencing a viral meme version of What Was I Made For that replaces all of the words with meows! People have used this audio in all different types of social media videos, including cute or funny pet moments.

Of course, actually singing this song to a live audience of cats is probably the most creative use for it that we’ve seen so far! We hope that, despite the grumpy expressions on their faces, the two felines in the balcony enjoyed their private concert.
