Nala and Monkey are Podencos, an unusual breed of dog that is not very well known in the United States. In Spain, they are the “invisible” breed. They are (sadly) the most abused dog in Spain. They are hunting dogs and have no protections under Spanish laws. The breed is also one of the oldest in the world, dating back to the Pharaohs of Egypt. That said, they are very expressive when appropriately treated, leading to some cute dog interaction with their owners.

In the video, Nala demonstrates a happy, healthy Podenco personality. She is playful and attentive and almost mirrors her owner’s actions. She bounces with excitement when Charlie turns to her and makes a noise. As he makes faces at her, she adopts the same poses and expressions comically.
The two go back and forth as he teases her, while the dog’s interactions almost mirror Charlie’s. She adopts the same pose as he looks down with a pouty expression. As he turns to give kisses, she turns, meeting mouth-to-mouth. The two are adorable as they play off of each other.

Seeing how expressive Nala is as the dog interacts with Charlie, their relationship is on full display. They cohabitate, sharing space in a world that can be very confusing. Charlie has a great deal of love and respect for his Podencos. The relationship and interactions between this human and his dogs should serve as a good reason to enact protection for the breed. Monkey (left) and Nala (right) are stunningly gorgeous animals.

The interactions and expressive facial features of this breed aid in communication between Charlie and his dogs.
