“What makes us different makes all the difference in the world.” Welcome to the world of Randimals, where one plus one equals one. Our story begins with one man walking through a toy fair. He sports an interesting stuffed animal and asks about it. The vendor politely responds, “This guy is Hork.” Questioning, our fair-goer asked, “How did Hork? Why did Hork? Where did Hork?”

The vendor patiently began explaining about Hork. He is Horse-Shark from the Randimals collection. “The Randimals” is a book written by Nicholas Harman. Randimals fall into the category of hybrid animals. The book starts with a pet dog, Ollie, part Bassett, and part Labrador. Ollie was the first Randimal. In the story, Ollie chews toys.

Sydney, the little girl in the story, stitches the toys back together, mixing their bits and pieces. She stitched the shark to the horse’s legs, and Hork was born. Sydney kept sewing and reconstructing her stuffed animals. That is how the Randimals were created. The toys go on a journey to a toy store. The other toys were not friendly to the Randimals.

Ellarilla, part elephant and part gorilla, teaches them all a beautiful message, “What makes us different makes all the difference in the world.” She tells the Randimals that their differences are their superpower.

The collection of Randimals is growing with input from readers. They send suggestions with drawings of Randimals they would like to see. The story and the plush creations are very popular. The book is currently sold out, but you can check Amazon for it. The second book contains mini-bios of the Randimals. They also carry the plushies and molded figurines.

Please share the Randimals.
