Some of the best proposals are the ones that didn’t go according to plan. This was certainly true of a woman who had no idea she was… “falling” into her engagement. And it’s also true of a woman named Katie Tucker. From her perspective, she and boyfriend Elijah Fulkerson simply had plans to take a walk on the beach. Little did she know, however, that Elijah planned to pop the question!

It’s super common for people to have no idea when their significant other will propose. But in Katie’s case, she didn’t know it was happening… well, as it was happening. While Elijah patiently waited on one knee, gorgeous ring on full display, Katie kept her back to him for two whole minutes. Why? Because she was distracted by an adorable seagull, as seen in the hilarious photo below.

A man and woman are on a beach near the water. The man waits on on knee, engagement ring out. The woman has her back to him. Her phone is out and she is focused on taking a picture. She is facing the water.

“I hope the seagull is a bridesmaid,” someone shares in reply to Katie’s engagement post, with another person adding a counter argument, “If the seagull was a real friend they would’ve flown over you to get you to turn around.”

As distracted as Katie was in that moment, as soon as she turned around, Elijah had her full attention! Check out the slideshow below to see Katie’s reaction. Plus, on the last two slides, you can check out her absolutely breathtaking engagement ring!

Katie admits that it’s not much of a surprise that this is how her proposal went. In fact, she noted that this “very much” describes her, admitting that “any animal will keep me distracted.” Luckily, there are plenty of others who relate!

“Asked my fiancée to marry me at the beach,” someone shares of their own engagement story. “Hired a secret photographer. She made the man take photos of seagulls too.”
