When you have a working ranch with different types of animals, having a good ranch horse is necessary. When Em was searching for a ranch horse, she found one that checked all her boxes. Surprisingly, it was a Craigslist ad for a Quarter horse.

The Craigslist ad specifically called out a Bay-colored Quarter horse with a good temperament. They called him a “sweet boy” and added that “he loves people and hugs.” At 15 hands high, he was the perfect size. Being a good trail and road rider, riding well in a trailer, and behaving for the farrier are all bonuses. Em bought the Craigslist horse and promptly named him “Sunny Chocolate Bo Bunny.”
It’s four years later, and Em still has Sunny and gets hugs daily. The horse breed isn’t what makes a great ranch horse; it is training and how the horse handles chores. As the backbone of a ranch, versatility is a must. The preferred breeds are Quarter horses, Morgans, Arabians, Draft horses, and Mustangs. These breeds are quick and responsive, are easy to train, and have good dispositions. The hugs are a happy bonus for Em and Sunny.

Em has a ranch in Idaho. Her TikTok name, Em of the Mountains, reflects her spirit. Her bio note proclaims, “Probably outside.” In a heartwarming post, Em talks about her ranch and how moving there changed her life. When you realize you have achieved your dream, every struggle becomes worth it.
Em’s ranch is home to several horses, a couple of doggos, and some goofy goats. Day-to-day life involves a lot of hard work and dedication. Em happily slogs through whatever it takes to get the job done.
Please share Sunny’s big hugs.
