When tornadoes and torrential storms blew through Arkansas, TVH11’s weatherman, Nathan Scott, brought his cat to work. The storms were heading right for his neighborhood in Little Rock, and he was concerned about her being home alone.

The female cat, Cierra, is a primarily white calico (tri-color). When Nathan entered the frame, he cradled the cat like a baby. Nathan explained, “When the tornado hit Little Rock, you know, it was only about a mile away, and I had her in the bathroom cuz I knew it was gonna be a bad day.” He continued, “When I saw that hook echo getting pretty close to my neighborhood, it was scary. The first thing I was thinking about was her.”
Severe storms had ravaged the area since Wednesday, April 2, 2025. By Friday, storm damage and power outages were widespread, and Nathan felt safer with Cierra in the studio. The area suffered thunderstorms, hail, tornadoes, and flooding all week. Downed trees and storm damage have caused power outages and structural damage to residential and commercial properties. Flash flood warnings remained in effect through Sunday.

The Arkansas Department of Public Safety reports 13 injuries and the death of a five-year-old child. Little Rock mayor, Frank Scott, Jr., stated that crews are clearing debris and downed trees throughout the community. Flooding and highway closures remain a problem as water levels slowly recede.
Storms can be scary for humans. We don’t know if our pets understand storms, but we do know that they experience fear. Nathan clearly loves Cierra and wants her to feel safe. The cat seems pretty content nestled in the weatherman’s protective arms.
Please share if you would take your cat to work during inclement weather.
