The kid fashion shows are celebrated and straightforward. The children select the outfit they want to wear that day. They walk into the room parade down the runway. The mom asks about the outfit narrator describes the ensemble. Each model turns shyly allowing a 360 degree view spins elegantly, showing off the flow and cut of the design. Compliments flow freely as Chancè appreciates the children’s fashion choices.
I recall when my daughter had the responsibility of managing her wardrobe. The phrase, “You’re wearing THAT?” was uttered more than once. The unbelieving head shake, raised eyebrows, and resigned shrug were difficult to hide.
Nonetheless, we did permit her to make her own choices, and she remained her unique self. That is the important part. We did not disparage her choices, but opted for statements like, “That’s an odd combination. Stripes with plaid. At least the colors match.” So, if you have a child who doesn’t fit a mold, encourage their choices in a healthy way.
Chancè doesn’t have to worry about that because all her kids seem to have a good sense of fashion. They confidently strut their stuff for each kid fashion show, eager for approval. Please encourage your children to express themselves. Kudos to Chancè for this wholesome activity.
