Sheetia Barrett never expected to help rescue a group of ducklings but, by chance, that is exactly what happened. It all started when one of Sheetia’s cousins took notice of some ducks near her home. She wanted to get a closer look, but she was in a rush to get to work. By the time she got back, those ducks were nowhere in sight… but ducklings could be heard from the nearby sewer.

There’s no confirmation on what happened, exactly. But it’s possible the ducklings had been stuck there for hours. That may have even been the reason Mom and Dad were at the sewer to begin with. In any case, Sheetia’s cousins didn’t think twice before jumping into action. Then, when Sheetia got off work, she joined them. Luckily, the three of them succefully reunited this sweet duck family!

Three Women Gather to Rescue Lost Ducklings Who Were Trapped in a Sewer
Getting these little guys out of the sewer was not easy, but they never let go of hope. When Sheetia first arrived, she was met by the sight of a cousin laying on the concrete, reaching into the sewer. They tried using a grabber, but the ducklings were afraid of it. So, in the end, it was a dustpan that worked the best.
So, while this unexpected rescue mission was certainly stressful, these heroic cousins are simply grateful this story has a happy end. Speaking of stories, they’re set to release a children’s book based on this rescue! It’s called Save the Ducks. How cool is that!?
