This toddler may not be the dog whisperer, but he certainly has a unique way of communicating with his Labrador retriever! A social media user caught the sweetest video of their small son catching up with the family pooch by imitating the animal’s howls. Obviously, we have no idea what they’re saying, but their conversation is the cutest thing ever! This hilarious clip has received over a million views online.

In the footage, the toddler started the discussion with an enthusiastic howl, to which the Labrador retriever replied in kind. The child seemed to think this response was the funniest thing ever, so he tried again. Once more, the dog howled in answer! This back and forth went on for a while, with the young boy erupting into giggles after each exchange.
“Chats between besties,” wrote the parent in their caption.
Commenters thought this video was just too sweet! They loved seeing the way this Labrador retriever replied to the toddler every time, even though neither of them knew what the other was saying.
“I have a permanent smile on my face,” wrote one user. “This is the best kind of moment in life.”
“Dogs keep babies so well entertained,” said another.
A third added, “Anyone else catch how the lab MATCHES his sounds?!”
Of course, every friendship has its ups and downs. One day you and your bestie are howling with laughter, the next he’s gotten you stuck in a plastic chair! Or, at least, that’s how it goes when you’re a Labrador retriever whose best friend is a toddler. In another silly clip, Mom caught the dog wandering around the house with a child-sized plastic chair firmly planted on his back. Any guesses as to who might have been responsible?
Well, at least Mom was able to get the pooch free pretty easily. Let’s hope this prank doesn’t put a damper on this toddler’s otherwise beautiful connection with his Labrador retriever!
