Growing up, we rely on our parents for everything. They feed, clothe, house, and drive us everywhere we need to go. Some kids love that bonding time in the car. It gives them a chance to learn more about their parents and share stories and maybe their favorite music. The Houlihan kids certainly cherish their carpool days with their dad, Tim. He drove them to school daily in San Jose, California, which was a highlight. So, when it came time for Tim’s final day of work at Saint Francis High School in Mountainview, they wanted to be along for the ride. Tim retired after 41 years, and his kids Brian Houlihan, 37, Kelsey Houlihan Ford, 35, and Matt Houlihan, 33, showed up at their parent’s house on the last day and hopped in the car. Matt shared their carpool video on TikTok, and people fell in love with the Houlihans.

Their Final Carpool For Dad’s Retirement Was Packed With Nostalgia
The kids walked in and surprised their parents by yelling, “Happy last day of school!” And off they went. They played Outkast’s Hey Ya! and stopped for breakfast at the House of Bagels.
“We spent so much time in the car with [our parents] just carpooling to and from school that I thought it would be a funny idea and cute to just go and spend some time, one more time, with dad in the car,” Matt told Good Morning America.
His dad agreed that the carpool days were special to him, too.
“It was just a lot of fun getting to spend the morning with them. House of Bagels, their profits are going down since we’re not coming in every morning now, spending our few bucks with them, but that was another fun part of it, just re-creating our daily trip,” Tim said.
A follower wrote, “Man this is a beautiful moment yall amazing for that.”
The carpool moment touched this person’s heart. “This is the sweetest. Love how you all showed up for your dad. That’s what it’s all about!!!”
