Over the holidays, 8-year-old Rio became social media famous after her mother, Monica, captured footage of the little girl lost in the moment as she sang along to a recording of Andrea’s Time To Say Goodbye. She shared it with the hope that Andrea would notice—and he did.
“On 12/30/2023 I posted this video of my blind daughter with Down syndrome singing one of her favorite Andrea Bocelli songs, and it went viral. What happened next, I did not expect,” Monica captioned on an updated video shared over a month later.
Monica opened her DMs one day and saw a message from Andrea’s official TikTok account. In it, one of Andrea’s assistants invited Rio to attend one of the legendary singer’s concerts near her home. Monica, of course, graciously accepted.
Little Girl Given VIP Treatment at Andrea Bocelli Performance
When Rio’s family arrived that night, they were given VIP backstage passes, and then they got to sit in an empty auditorium to watch the sound check performance. Following that, they were ushered to meet Andrea.
When Andrea greeted Rio, he took her by her hands and learned her story. One of Andrea’s people explained that Rio’s video went viral because there was “so much emotion and so much love” coming from the little girl and she enjoyed his music.
Before parting, Andrea asked if he could introduce Rio to his daughter, and he promised he would put on an epic performance for his biggest little fan.
While we didn’t get to see footage of Rio experiencing the concert, Monica said it was a night that neither Rio nor her family would ever forget.
“Thank you to Ryan and Adam and all the beautiful people who were so kind and helpful to Rio and my family on this special day!” she wrote under the video. “Thank you to Andrea and his Wife and family for this beautiful gesture that we will cherish and remember forever!”
