Just knowing that things could always be worse can lift your spirits, leading to a feeling of gratitude that can brighten your outlook. Take 6-year-old Ar’miah, for instance. This sweet little girl deals with a laundry list of disabilities in her life, yet her spirit remains strong and unencumbered by negativity.

With help from her mom Mariah Woody Ar’miah has been recording video messages for others in an effort to spread her infectious optimism. Ar’miah has had impaired vision, optic nerve hypoplasia, myopia, nystagmus, and growth hormone deficiency since she was 6 months old, requiring her to use special glasses and a cane to get around. There is no cure for Ar’miah’s conditions but she has learned to live with them so well that she resembles any other 6-year-old kid.

The little girl loves playing with her friends and siblings, doing her nails, playing music, and reading, among other pastimes. She also takes time to record uplifting and spiritually-powerful messages for her social media pages, asking her thousands of followers to adhere to her mantra: “Say your prayers, never give up, and keep pushing.”

“You are what you believe,” the child writes on her Instagram page, and that’s a statement she doesn’t just believe but lives every day.
In 2018 the little girl published her first children’s book with help from her mom and an illustrator. “Say Your Prayers, Never Give Up and Keep Pushing” is a story about how Ar’miah helps her friend Carol, who has a prosthetic leg, learn to ride a bicycle. This is just another way that Ar’miah is getting her message of love, acceptance, and inclusion out into the world.

Regardless of what hardships this child endures she remains an endless source of goodness and joy. Just watching her give her little pep talks on YouTube or Instagram lifts up countless strangers around the world, all of whom feel just a little bit better after spending virtual time with Ar’miah.
