Last Friday, residents in Queensland, Australia experienced one memorable storm. In a single night, there were 2,500 lightning strikes in the area. Seventeen-year-old Bloom Burpengary was sitting in her bed when the storm passed over her family’s home. She was charging her phone and, at the same time, she was also using it to scroll on social media. It was during this time that Bloom heard a loud crash. The teen had been stuck by lightning in her very own bed.

Chaos ensued. The lightning had caused the ceiling in Bloom’s room to collapse. Plus, the very mattress she was on caught fire. According to Bloom, once the roof was hit, “everything just exploded.” And yet, despite this intense and overwhelming experience, Bloom is doing surprisingly well. In fact, she’s already in good spirits, as seen in the video below.

“She’s a lot more chill about getting struck by lightning than I would be,” someone admits in the comments, another person adding, “I love her positivity, her and her dad just laughing it off hahaha.”

“I love how no one’s talking about how well she handled that situation,” a third person points out. “The girl was able to calm down, grab her animal as soon as she was done, go warn the other people in the house and leave.”

Bloom definitely deserves some recognition for helping make sure this story got a happy end. And based on the way she is already able to make jokes about it, there is no doubt she’s got one heck of a story to tell! People who have firsthand experience with unusual lightning strikes usually do, after all.
