Every morning, Christy Rawls greets her autistic son by saying “good morning!” Because he’s considered to be non-verbal, he never says it back to her… until recently. One morning, when Christy was going about her usual routine, 7-year-old Kai shocked Mom in the best way. Thankfully, this precious moment was caught on their Ring camera.

Just after Christy said “good morning,” Kai wished her a good morning right back! To say that Mom looked surprised would be an understatement. Instantly, her mouth flew open, and she placed a hand to her heart. Meanwhile, Kai found himself able to repeat the sentence a second time, officially sending Christy into tears.
To top off this beautiful moment, Kai happily skips away, seemingly just as overjoyed by the moment as his Mom. This is sure to be a moment neither of them will ever forget!
Watch Kai say “good morning” to his Mom for the first time in the video below.
@4aries14 *** 🥹🥹🥹*** Autism nonverbal mother happiness overload moment!!! 💙💙🧩🧩💙💙 I had an emotional moment this morning with my Kai. He's almost 7 & is considered non verbal. Well, this morning I did my usual "Good morning" & he finally said it back to me, TWICE, & with full emotion. I say it once then you hear him tell me it back 2 times. 🙌🏽🙌🏽 Edit:: I normally try not to react that way bc we know he can do it, so I try not to over praise BUT I've been saying this for 6 yrs & always say to him…."One day you're going to tell me it back homie" 😌 (I threw on my sweats/sweatshirt over my long pjs to take Kira to the bus right before this 🥴😆) #autism #autismawareness #nonverbal #autismmom #autistic #proudmoment #tearjerker #amazing #love #family #autismlove #autismsupport #sensory #neurodivergent #motherlove ♬ original sound – Cristy Rawls
