Jazlyn Herr and Darian McCauley have a daughter, Isla Rose McCauley. When Isla was born, the couple celebrated with posts on TikTok and Instagram. When the baby seemed like she was beginning to talk at three months old, they posted a video. It was a quick “Hi,” so random sounds count, and the baby can talk!

We should note that, at that age, babies will make random sounds that sometimes mimic words. They are exploring their voice and the noises they can produce. Many parents say “Hi” to their babies when they are near them. It is not unreasonable to believe that a baby as young as three months could imitate that sound.
The next video proclaiming that their baby can talk came when Isla was five months old. Whether she can talk or not, Isla is an adorable baby.
It’s a pretty sure thing that Isla isn’t talking just yet. Most children begin making sounds, laughing, and giggling between four and six months. They start with simple words around the 12 to 18-month range. Since “Hi” is a single-syllable word with the sound generated in the throat, Isla could be saying that. She seems to make the sound in context, responding to her parents.
It will be several months before Isla adds to her vocabulary. We hope that Jazlyn and Darian continue to treat her like the special baby she is. Meanwhile, Mom had a little fun with filters and AI software. She made a video of the baby singing, which you can watch here.
We hope you enjoyed looking into early childhood development and making new sounds.
