Many people choose to raise pets, and they often treat them like children. Such is the case with Matt Fernandez and Kaido. Matt is the human Dad of Kaido, a miniature Australian shepherd. The duo lives in New York City and rides around on a bike, while Kaido rides in a backpack. In December, the pair were on a ride enjoying the sights and sounds of the city when an ambulance siren split the standard din. Kaido thought it wasn’t loud enough, so he began howling, adding his small dog ambulance noise.

Matt continued to peddle the pair to their destination. He was watching for the ambulance and laughing at his silly dog. As they navigated through the streets, Kaido continued to howl. Matt made sure to stop for traffic and avoid pedestrians. As they passed one good-natured pedestrian, he had a laugh and added his howl to Kaido’s full-throated siren.

The pair were already creating smiles, with Matt in a Santa cap and Kaido’s backpack decorated with a red Santa bag. When Kaido decided to be a dog ambulance, more people smiled as they passed.
Kaido is quite popular around town on Matt’s regular routes. And he likes to pretend he is an ambulance quite frequently. Matt even compiled a “best of” slide show for 2024 moments.
Kaido is so popular around town he even got to ride in a firetruck! All the positive reactions from pedestrians are heartwarming. For such a little animal, Kaido shows how big his heart is with his howl. With everything happening in the world lately, being able to give someone a smile is good. Kaido is brightening our worldview!
Please share if you howled along with Kaido while watching.
