For decades, American Idol has attracted wannabe singers and performers who hope to make it big. The first American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, set the gold standard for career success. This year, Carrie Underwood returned as a judge 20 years after winning the competition, hoping to make another singer’s dream come true. Season 23 of Idol kicked off on March 9, and Carrie, alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, gave several artists a golden ticket to Hollywood. There were many tears from happy and sad contestants and their parents during that first episode. We met one of the Backstreet Boys’ sons during this season of American Idol, and it was amazing. Baylee Littrell brought out a guitar to perform an original song, and Carrie realized quickly that something looked familiar.

Backstreet Boys Singer Brian Littrell Sang Along With His Son On “American Idol“
Carried told Baylee, “You’re really good. I love the song and that’s a risk, too, when people come in singing their own song. That was great emotionally. You went there and I think you could go very, very far in this competition.”
Luke then invited the Backstreet Boys singer into the American Idol audition to sing a chorus with Baylee, and the pair brought the house down.
“This was not a part of the audition. But for your superstar singer dad to come in here, I feel for anybody else, it would make you look bad. But it didn’t,” Carrie said. “You were right there with him; You didn’t shy away; You were like, “‘This is my moment.'”
All three judges sent Baylee to Hollywood, making his famous dad cry. Baylee said, “I really didn’t know how it was going to go today. I was terrified. But being able to sing my original and get through and the judges loved it. That meant the world.”
