When you’re sitting in the stands right behind home plate, the occasional foul ball will find its way to you. This gentleman, who was calmly resting his beer on the ledge, was watching the game. The pitch was thrown. The batter was ready. He swung and nicked the ball foul.

The fan saw the foul ball leave the bat. He lost the trajectory of it as it careened almost straight back toward him. No one expected it to hit the beer and douse him. But the foul ball traveled as if it was on a mission. It’s quite possible his wife contracted it to keep him from having too many beers at the game.

It nailed his beer can, sending it flying as the impact created a foam fountain splattering everywhere. The man, shocked by his sudden dousing, began to laugh. What else could he do? The players turned to make sure he was OK, but he was laughing too hard to answer coherently. The funny moment ensures the fan remembers this baseball game forever.

The Springfield Cardinals are the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. Watching Double-A games is as exciting as watching major league games without the high ticket prices. After this incident, they may want to install nets around the backstop.

Please share this humorous moment.
