Baking good cookies is an acquired talent. Any experienced baker can tell you all the secrets. For fluffier cookies, add an extra egg or a tablespoon of warm water. To get softer cookies, add a teaspoon of cream of tartar (yes, it really does that). Using shortening instead of butter will make your cookies crispier. There are a zillion tips and tricks you can learn. However, nothing will fix this teddy bear cookie.

Well, maybe baking it inside a cake mold might help, but even that is doubtful. It sure does look cute on the cookie sheet going into the oven. The cookie dough looks great and has an excellent consistency. The teddy bear cookie is shaped perfectly. It is adorned with little chocolate chip buttons and a cute dough tie. The lighter dough on the pads of the paws, the nose, and the inside of the ears are a great touch.
Master Chef Juliette seems to have thought of everything. When this little teddy bear cookie comes out of the oven it is going to be scrumptious! Except that Juliette forgot the nature of cookie dough. When it is in the oven, it will flatten and spread as it warms. That is exactly what happened, causing the hilarious blob that came out of the oven.

Poor Juliette would have been better off spreading it out to make a pan cookie. She also could have rolled it out and used cookie cutters to get the teddy bear shape. But the molded dough didn’t stand a chance in the oven. Hopefully her other culinary endeavors don’t end this way.
