Woman seeing the Cologne Cathedral for the first time.

Aliens must have built it! Just joking, but the majesty of this architectural masterpiece cannot be denied. The design and engineering of the Cologne Cathedral is the brainchild of Master Gerhard. The foundation of the cathedral dates back to 1248. Although it would be several centuries before completion, his vision started the project that was under construction for 632 years

The wonder displayed on the face of Anastasia relays the majesty of the Cologne Cathedral better than any words I can comprise. As her adventure unfolds, her first glimpse of the incredible building and expression on her face relays the breathtaking beauty.

As the camera pans from Anastasia to the front of the cathedral, the view is not wide enough to catch everything. However, what the camera does catch is truly incredible.

The Cologne Cathedral sports twin spires with a distinctive and intricate design. The expertise and vision of Master Gerhard laid the groundwork for the skyline we see today. The building is nearly 516 feet tall. Windows comprise almost 33,000 square feet of space along exterior walls. Many of the widows depict full color stories from the Bible. The structure contains over 330,000 tons of stones. Building maintenance costs approximately $32,500 per day.

Entry to the Cologne Cathedral is free, but there are admission fees to enter certain areas within the building, such as the tower. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cologne has ownership of the building and has designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inside the building is the Shrine of the Three Kings honors the three Magi who attended the birth of Jesus. Many works of art are on display in the Cathedral Treasure Chamber.

Please share this majestic architectural masterpiece.
