Blake Shelton Makes His Second Big Career Move In One Week

Blake Shelton single

Fans love The Voice but admit things haven’t quite been the same since Blake Shelton left the show. He was an original judge, and his exit in May 2023 after 23 seasons left many wondering what he’d do next. Blake hasn’t been quiet about his life and regularly shares his day-to-day adventures in Oklahoma with his wife, Gwen Stefani, on social media. But those who miss his music get ready to be excited. Blake Shelton’s new single, Texas, dropped on November 14. This comes on the heels of the announcement he’s part of a new reality competition show called The Road. It’s been a big week for him, and he’s excited to share.

Blake Shelton’s New Single Marks A New Chapter For Him

The country star told People he is ready for a new chapter and that Texas is the perfect place to start.

“When we just started down this road, the song just jumped out to me. There was something familiar about it — and then something that felt like a step forward at the same time,” Blake explained to People. “It’s always in the back of my mind. What’s something I haven’t done that’s not going to make people go, ‘What does he think he’s doing?'”

Texas has a different sound than Blake’s other music, something he credits to an unlikely inspiration. Blake Shelton and Post Malone teamed up for Pour Me A Drink earlier this year, and fans loved it. Posty helped Blake change things up, and he’s grateful.

“I really credit Post Malone for this new energy that I have because I was kind of just complacent and not in any hurry,” Blake told People. “Then that kid came along and asked me to sing on his song with him. It took off and was a big hit this summer, and it reminded me like, ‘Hey, get off your ass! This may be your last chance to really take a big swing at this thing.’ So here I am.”
