Boston Marathon Spectator Shares Beautiful Example Of “Humanity, Even After 26.2 Miles”

View from the sidelines of the Boston Marathon. Runners go by as one runner helps another get to their feet

If you’ve ever entered a marathon, you understand the amount of time and effort it takes to properly train for one. And while every single marathon is a challenge, there are ones that are considered particularly difficult. This includes the Boston Marathon. The path is 26.2 miles like the rest, of course, but the path has proven to be unlike most.

That’s because the Boston Marathon has participants taking on a number of challenging hills. Plus, there’s the unpredictable weather in the area. In other words, after all that training, you don’t want to let anything get in the way between you and the finish line. Well, most of the time, anyway. Nearing the end of the marathon, one runner chose to stop and help another that was struggling. See this heartwarming moment in the video below.

Unexpected Moment During the Boston Marathon is Melting Hearts Everywhere

“Guy who stopped is the biggest winner ever,” someone in the comments shares, another person adding, “The guy who stopped, sacrificed his finish time, to help someone else is what the world need more of… I hope every day of his life is filled with big blessings.”

After this moment went viral online, the kind man was identified as Pedro Arieta, a Brazilian runner. According to a post he shared on social media, the impact this marathon had on him will stay with him forever.

“The Boston Marathon surprised me in countless ways…” Pedro writes, his post translated to English. “It reminded me that sport is much more collective than we imagine … It was impossible to run past someone who needed help to reach the finish line of their dreams and not help them complete the Boston Marathon. Thank you Boston, thank you God.”
