Brad Paisley To Open A Second Free Grocery Store In Nashville

Brad Paisley

Brad Paisley is far more than just a country singer and songwriter. He is also responsible for feeding hundreds of Nashville residents. Back in 2019, Paisley opened a free grocery store for those suffering from food insecurity. Now, he’s planning on expanding this incredible concept.

While the past five years have brought about many unexpected challenges, that has not deterred Brad Paisley. The Nashville Business Journal reported that he told guests at last month’s CEO Roundtable awards that he wants to open a second grocery store in Northern Nashville. He stated, “We’re going to open another location as soon as we get all the T’s crossed and I’s dotted.”

Paisley went on to describe this grocery store: “It’s groceries with dignity,” he claimed. He mentions how seeing people waiting for a handout from a brown paper bag has a sort of “sting of the indignity.” His vision for this grocery store was to have those negative feelings go away and “make it look extremely normal.”

Brad Paisley’s Free Grocery Store Faces Challenges

The first free grocery store opened on March 12, 2020. While the store’s mission was incredible, that mission did little to stop the unforeseen challenges that arose. First, the store faced a deadly tornado just ten days before its opening. Due to the chaos caused by the storm, the store worked at limited capacity for a while.

As if a tornado wasn’t enough of a setback, the COVID-19 pandemic shut the nation down just days later. The shelter-in-place order that came with the COVID outbreak limited many’s ability to access Brad Paisley’s store. However, Paisley and his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, did not let these setbacks stop their vision from coming to life.

They quickly devised a pandemic plan. That plan included delivery services, allowing the groceries to reach those in need.

We are ecstatic to hear that Brad Paisley and his wife intend to open another location soon after seeing how successful the first free grocery store was.
