About a year ago, Brian Stanley’s dog Burger King was just a few months old and couldn’t resist digging under their privacy fence to say hello to anyone passing by their Ohio home.

To save the lawn, Brian cut a small hole in the fence so Burger and his canine brother Ripley would have a window to gaze out. The plan worked perfectly! Burger started using the makeshift peephole instead of destroying the yard. Even better, their neighbors enjoyed seeing the dog’s cute face all the time!
When the novel coronavirus pandemic hit the U.S., Brian and his 7-year-old son found themselves with lots of extra time because they had no work or in-person school. Like so many others, they decided to use their days well – by making as many people smile as possible!
“The two of us noticed an increase in foot and bike traffic on the street side of the fence,” Brian explained. “I came up with the idea to paint a dog-themed painting to frame the window, which would be brought to life when Burger stuck his head through the fence.”
So he and his son gathered paint and spare wood and got to work! Their first masterpiece was based on “The Scream,” a famous Edvard Munch painting. Naturally, they named their homemade version “The Bark,” and Burger was more than willing to stop by for his close-up!
“In the beginning, we just thought it would brighten the day in the neighborhood and hopefully bring a few smiles to people’s faces,” Brian said. “There was an immediate positive response to it.”
Thanks to all the wonderful feedback they received from their community, the creative father and son headed back to the workshop to create their next piece!
So far, the two of them have tackled several different projects, including Pac-Man, movie posters, classic art, and even Uncle Sam.
The awesome dad said their neighbors now purposely come by their street just to see what they have up. Of course, they also want to say hello to Burger, who is everyone’s favorite doggy model!
Everyone loves to pose for pictures in front of the epic artwork! Ultimately, Brian said he’s just excited to be making his neighborhood a happier place.
“My son and I have no plans to stop putting up new paintings and have enough ideas to keep doing this for years,”he added.
This is one of the cutest uses of spare time we’ve seen! What a wonderful way for them to bond with each other and their neighbors.
