Bride Sings To Groom While Walking Down The Aisle After Near-Death Experience

A groom and bride hold hands during the wedding ceremony. The bride sings as the groom smiles at her

Sure, there are lots of traditional elements to weddings that are nice to keep. But since each couple is unique, so should their weddings! Sometimes, this looks like a surprise for grandma or a loving stepdad. For Sophie Mammill, on the other hand, her heartwarming idea involved a surprise for her groom. Rather than simply having music play as she walked down the aisle, this bride chose to sing.

Although Sophie is not a professional singer, she used to dream of being one. That said, she doesn’t have any formal training. Still, when it came time to celebrate the love of her life, she decided that serenading him was the perfect choice — and she was right! Before Sophie could be seen, she began to sing You’re Still the One by Shania Twain. Watch this sweet moment in the video below!

The groom keeps it together at first, but as Sophie’s beautiful song continues, he can be seen holding back tears. It’s no wonder that’s the case, but when you find out what the couple has been through, it makes even more sense.

“We just had a premature baby at 28 weeks last November after I nearly lost my life to sepsis,” Sophie explains. “He tried to hold back tears but cracked when I got close to him. You can see his reaction, and he still goes on about it.”

When This Bride Sings for Her Groom, There’s Not a Dry Eye in the House

It seems that, in surviving this experience, Sophie and her husband have only gotten closer. It’s no wonder, then, that she’d want to find a way to make their ceremony extra special. That said, this is something that Sophie hopes that all couples do for themselves.

“I hope people remember to be unique and remember that a wedding is about the person you love,” she says.
