Brooke Shields’ daughter, Grier Henchy, just made her runway debut and made her mother “so proud.” But her success had nothing to do with Brooke’s sage advice.

Brooke, 59, grew up in front of the camera. The actress modeled for many major publications and had even appeared on the cover of Vogue by the time she was 14. So when Grier began her career on the runway, she asked her mother for pointers.
“[Grier] goes, ‘What should I do?’” Brooke Sheilds told People. “And I go, ‘Look hungry and angry.’”
“She’s like, ‘You’re no help.’ I’m like, ‘I never walked the runway. I don’t know how to do this,’” she joked.
Despite the unhelpful but hilarious advice. Grier managed to make her debut with grace and elegance. The 18-year-old walked in the Tommy Hilfiger runway show during New York Fashion Week in September.
“I was blown away by my daughter,” Brooke gushed. “I really was.”
In a video posted by the actress, Grier confidently strutted down the runway in a long black gown with her hands in her pockets and her long, auburn hair flowing.
“So proud of you [Grier Henchy],” she captioned.
Brooke Shields Wasn’t Quick To Accept Her Daughter’s Runway Dreams
In the past, Brooke Shields admitted that she tried to sway Grier away from the runway because of its “brutal” reputation. But she eventually gave in and supported the choice once she realized how much it meant to her daughter.
“It’s such a different industry now than it was,” she said on Live with Kelly and Mark. “She’s interested in runway, and that’s brutal. I never did runway. I don’t think I would have been able to handle it.”
Once Brooke accepted her daughter’s decision, she laid down some firm rules.
“I finally had to give in and say if you’re gonna do this a.) I’m not gonna be your manager. You’re going to be with an agency,” she continued. “You’re going to have a great work ethic. It’s not going to be comfortable, and you’re gonna listen to me.”
