We’ve watched in horror for the last week as the fires in Southern California claimed the homes and businesses of thousands of innocent people. Among those devastated by the flames were dozens of celebrities whose homes burned to ashes. As much as crews tried to prevent the devastation, the fires grew too quickly, and in many cases, nothing could be done to thwart the damage. Firefighters, police officers, and paramedics have incredibly difficult jobs that are sometimes taken for granted. But Bruce Willis knows the importance of first responders while the fires burn, and he took the opportunity to share his gratitude. His wife, Emma Heming Willis, caught the touching moment on camera and shared it with all of us.

Bruce Willis Shook Police Officers’ Hands in The Wake Of The Fires
Emma shared a black-and-white video of Bruce greeting police on Instagram. He can no longer speak due to his frontotemporal dementia, but they got his message loud and clear. She captioned the video, “Spotting a first responder, Bruce never missed a chance to show his gratitude with a heartfelt handshake and a ‘thank you for your service.’ Yesterday was no different.”
The officers smiled as Bruce extended his hand. They seemed humbled that he wanted to thank them for all they’d done. It’s the kind of moment that brings a tear to your eyes.
Fans loved getting a rare glimpse at Bruce Willis, even if it took the fires to make it happen.
One shared, “He really is an amazing human- nothing can take that from him.”
This person agreed, “Absolutely nobody will ever be as cool as Bruce Willis.”
Another fan made a great point, writing, “He has always been great with the public and a great human being. Cognitive deficits cannot take that away from him.”
