While the treat differs slightly each year, it is always something spectacular. This year, their treat is based on a special spooky family that we all know and love, The Addams Family.

Burger King Releases The Addams Family Burger For Halloween
Burger King is known for its Halloween menus. Every year this fast food chain releases some sort of special treat for the holiday. Food & Wine shared some past Halloween treats such as last year’s Ghost Pepper Whopper and Ghost Pepper Chicken Fries. Sometimes, the surprises even go beyond food. A couple of years ago, they “added a ‘Ghost Detector’ to the BK app that supposedly let you know if you were living in a haunted house.”
While the ghost theme has been popular in the past, Burger King decided to take a different approach this Halloween season. This year, they have teamed up with The Addams Family to release a special burger. This new food item is expected to drop on Thursday, October 10, and will also include four new Addams Family-inspired items.
What’s Cooking Spooky Looking?
Pat O’Toole, chief marketing officer for Burger King, spoke to Food & Wine about the new items. He started his statement by mentioning how Halloween has always held a special place in the franchise’s heart. From there, he said, “We know The Addams Family also has an affinity for the scarier things in life, so we’re excited to offer fans not one, but four new takes on their favorite BK products this Halloween season with these Addams Family-inspired creations.”
So what are the new and spooky creations? The four items are the Wednesday Whopper, Thing’s Rings, Gomez’s Churro Fries, and Morticia’s Kooky Chocolate Shake. The Burger King website offers the following description of each themed treat.
WEDNESDAY WHOPPER: “Inspired by The Addams Family & features a 1/4 lb* flame-grilled beef patty, melty swiss cheese, juicy tomatoes, crisp lettuce, creamy mayonnaise, ketchup, crunchy pickles, and sliced white onions on a toasted purple sesame seed bun colored with purple potato.“
THING’S RINGS: “Burger King’s Thing’s Rings are golden brown, hot & crispy onion rings served in a carton inspired by The Addams Family.”
GOMEZ’S CHURRO FRIES: “Inspired by The Addams Family & made from fried crispy pastry dough tossed in cinnamon sugar, served warm with chocolate sauce for a dippable dessert on-the-go.”
MORTICIA’S KOOKY CHOCOLATE SHAKE: “Inspired by The Addams Family, made with creamy soft serve mixed with chocolate cake batter fudge and topped with black & purple cookie pieces.”
Bonus For Kids
Don’t think that Burger King forgot about the kids this Halloween! Later in the month, they will release “a line of Addams Family toys for its King Jr. Meals.” Also, if your little one can’t decide what to be for Halloween this year, how about dressing up as one of their Burger King favorite treats?
That’s right, Burger King is selling Chicken Fries costumes on their website! New Addams Family-inspired food items, new toys, and a Halloween costume…Burger King sure knows how to celebrate!
