When life burns your lemon, add skeletons and call it a day! Dawsen Saley is an NFL cheerleader in Charlotte, North Carolina. Recently, one of her neighbors experienced a car fire. Rather than whine and cry about their rough luck, the couple did something unique. They placed some skeletons in the burned car and made it a Halloween decoration!

The effect is positively gruesome. Using the burned car as a decoration is either genius or desperation. Depending on city codes, they could get fined for having a dilapidated vehicle in the driveway. However, with insurance waiting periods, it might be a while before they find out the status of a claim. While waiting, they are using the vehicle for the most suitable purpose.

Perhaps the most hilarious part of the Halloween display is that the house has no other decorations besides the burned car. There are no lights, pumpkins, ghosts, or other signs of the holiday. Commenter Kylee adds the perfect sentiment for the occasion, “recycle, reuse, and repurpose.”

While some may see the display as dreadful, as it depicts a fatal vehicle crash, others see the humor. These folks have taken their “lemon” and turned it into lemonade. It likely fits into their Home Owners Association (HOA) rules as a decoration while they wait for insurance adjusters.

This also may have been a moment of, “If I don’t laugh about this, I’ll cry.” Studies show that humor is an effective coping mechanism. It can reduce stress and increase positive emotional balance. Many people handle stressful situations by seeing the humor and laughing. Although some may find laughter in stressful situations odd, it is pretty standard.
