Pumpkin is a capybara at Dark Wings Wildlife. We first introduced our readers to this (not so) graceful little lady a year ago. She is living her best life with her friends Trixie, the pied crow, Mozzie, the Collie, and several other critters. As part of a community, one should take care of shared “common areas.” However, Pumpkin did a doodie in the pool. The capybara showed no remorse, which meant the start of eviction proceedings.

Having been served with an official eviction notice, Pumpkin the capybara acted recklessly, eating the official document! Don’t worry — it is edible paper and non-toxic ink, just like they use for the capygrams. The doodie in the pool is not as non-toxic as the edible paper — just saying.
Pumpkin’s actions show that she has no intention of cleaning the pool. With the evidence of the eviction notice gone, she may think she is in the clear. We’re sure Pumpkin may plan to drop a few more doodies in the pool before this saga ends. Stay tuned.

The animals at Dark Wings Wildlife are not rescues, and it is not a rehabilitation facility. For one reason or another, the animals in their care cannot resume life in the wild. They receive care and feeding and have playful adventures as they live comfortably. Some of the animals, like Pumpkin, become goodwill ambassadors for their species. Others, like Nibbler, the blind goose, are just hanging out enjoying “retirement.”
One thing is sure about the animals under DWW’s care: they are loved and cared for like family. So even when the caretakers joke about sending Pumpkin the capybara an eviction notice, they won’t kick her to the curb.
Right now, DWW is helping Moore Exotic Animal Ranch with food and repair costs following Hurricane Milton. If you’d like to help, send a capygram! All the proceeds will benefit their friend’s rebuild after the storm. For more details on how to send a capygram, contact DWW on Instagram.
Please share this to fight against any future capybara eviction!
