Keeping secrets isn’t easy, but Carrie Kimball managed to keep hers for over a year. The New Hampshire mom knew her friend, Robert Scarborough, desperately needed a kidney to extend his life, so last year she decided to start the testing process to see if she was a match. Her daughter, Alyssa Lalmond, watched her push through COVID-19 restrictions and other obstacles, never giving up on her selfless mission to save her friend’s life.

“We didn’t tell anybody prior, in case it didn’t work out,” Alyssa said. “We didn’t want to get any hopes up.”
At long last, Carrie received word that she is a match for Robert and that the transplant surgery was a go! She showed up at Robert’s home with a sign that said, “I’m your donor!” Alyssa shared a video of the surprise on TikTok, where it quickly racked up millions of views.
As soon as he sees the sign, Robert’s face shows all of the excitement, turmoil, and joy of his journey. It’s impossible not to cry when you see how grateful he is for Carrie’s extraordinary gift!
“My mom really wanted to show people that if you have the chance to donate, you should do it,” Alyssa said. “You are potentially saving a life or extend someone’s life for the better.”
