Cats are gonna be cats. It doesn’t matter if they’re wild cats or house cats. If there is a box, they will climb inside it. If it’s a potential meal, they will chase it. When it’s a bug chasing a cheetah cub? Hilarity ensues because it’s a pretty BIG bug!

They may be cheetah “cubs,” but Zola, Kiara, and Lulu act and respond like kittens. They are in the kitchen at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. While the Cat Ambassador Team prepares their meals, the cubs are free to roam. And then a monster attacks!
We jest. It isn’t a real monster. But it is a rather large toy centipede that moves. At first, it seems to puzzle the cheetah cubs. A couple of them get a surprise and jump out of the way. The more curious cubs take apprehensive swipes at it. One of the handlers picks it up, and the cubs bat at the bug. It’s great until the bug goes back onto the floor.

These cheetah cubs are part of the Cincinnati Zoo’s Animal Ambassador program. Their training includes active play, walks, and running. The zoo shows patrons how fast a cheetah can run with daily demonstrations. The three cubs will eventually participate and run at speeds up to 70 miles per hour. The program is part of the conservation project to protect this endangered species.
One of the main goals of the Animal Ambassador program is to educate people about different animals. By sparking an interest in animals, the staff offers insight into each species. This may assist in getting more people involved with conservation programs. Visit the zoo online for more information about programs.
Please share these adorable cheetah cubs.
