It’s always nice to have things we can count on in life. For many, that includes the delicious waffle fries at Chick-fil-A. These iconic fries have been around since 1985, and they’ve proven time and time again to be one of the top choices in the United States. Turns out, Chick-fil-A recently changed the recipe of their waffle fries. The change took place late last year, but folks are just now talking about it more. The restaurant addresses this change on its website. In this announcement, they explain how and why this change has been made.
Let’s start with the “why” of it all. As amazing as Chick-fil-A fries are, the company thought they could do better when it comes to their crispiness. So, to make their fries stay crispy for longer, they added a new ingredient: pea starch.
Chick-fil-A Confirms the Recipe for Their Iconic Waffle Fries Has Changed
This pea starch is said to be a “slight adjustment” that doesn’t affect the flavor of the waffle fries we all know and love. Plus, this tasty side continues to not contain any of the nine major allergens. Though, you may need to reassess if you have a pea-related allergen or something similar.
Overall, the feedback on this menu change has been mixed. While some say the fries taste the same, others are sure the flavor is more bland. Plus, some folks admit they actually prefer their fries less crispy. Hopefully, anyone disappointed by this change can find solace in Chick-fil-A bringing by a fan-favorite item that hasn’t been around since 2019. You can learn more about that here!
