Christina Applegate Grieves Family Death Amid Personal Health Struggles

Christina Applegate lost her dad and recently opened up about his passing. The Dead to Me star talked about losing Robert Applegate on MeSsy, the podcast she co-hosts with Jamie Lynn Sigler. Both stars are living with multiple sclerosis. She shared the news with guest JoAnna Garcia Swisher and admitted that a week after his death, she was still processing the news. She said, “This is the first time I’ve really cried. I think kind of, like, I wasn’t allowing myself to have that yet,” Christina said. “Too busy with this, too busy with that.”

She said Robert’s death wasn’t unexpected, and she wasn’t sure how to feel. “Is that an excuse for not feeling? Because you know that someone’s gonna go? And you’ve said your goodbyes?”

Christina Applegate Didn’t Grow Up With Her Dad

Christna Applegate explained her mom and dad split when she was very young. “I didn’t grow up with my dad. He and my mom separated when I was five months old, but he’s been in my life ever since.”

Christina said her dad “wasn’t part of the lessons part of life,” but he gave her two “beautiful siblings and an amazing stepmother.”   

JoAnna shared a sweet quote with Christina and Jamie as someone living life after losing both parents. She said, “You can’t have grief without having had love…”

The Reba star added that both women have faced their MS diagnoses with grace and courage and have so many fans who love them.

The woman posted a teaser on Instagram, and this fan looks forward to listening to Christina Applegate discuss the loss of her dad. They wrote, “Will have to take a listen. I’m grieving the loss of my husband.”

Another shared their frustration with MS, writing, “This disease sucks. I am in a bad place with it right now!! Ugh!”
