With more insanely elaborate lighting spectacles going up across the country each year, it’s obvious that Christmas is becoming exponentially more high-tech. Thankfully, though, the charm and loving spirit of the holiday remains.

Jon Wawra and his family are proud to be part of the trend, making their own mark with a Christmas tree that would make Clark W. Griswold seethe with envy.

It’s a family tradition for the Wawras to have a ‘monster’ tree that’s almost too big to fit in their living room… and this one is no different.
Standing at 10 feet tall, the evergreen is decked out with more than 7,000 lights. While those stats are impressive alone, it’s what those lights can do that’s truly spectacular.

You see, they’re controlled by their own software, so when you turn on the full display, a sequenced soundtrack comes on and the subsequent show is truly one-of-a-kind.
But that’s not even the most amazing thing about the tree.
It’s actually not just for show. It’s also a memorial, a tree made in honor of ‘Grandpa Bob,’ who passed away in 2016.
“Last January we lost someone very special to us. Bob was an amazing father, husband, grandpa and above all a best friend. It will be tough going into 2017 without him but we know he is forever watching over us. He is greatly missed,” says the family in the video’s description.

I think it’s safe to say that Grandpa Bob would be proud. The mammoth tree is a true Christmas wonder. If you’d like to see what’s brought joy to countless people, click the video below.
