There’s so much to love about lemonade stands, especially when you’re the kid in charge of it. Sadly, a little girl named Maddy had to close her lemonade stand early when two teens decided to rob the young girl. The robbery took place in Saskatoon, Canada. By the time Maddy’s parents were able to call the police, the boys had already fled the scene. So, when officers did arrive, they began to search for the teenagers.

Then, within minutes, the two robbers were located. One was a 14-year-old with knife and the other was a 16-year-old who had outstanding warrants. Although action was taken swiftly, the damage had been done. The boys had taken juice, money, and candy, leaving the girl sick to her stomach, according to mom, Jade Floata. Thankfully, however, her community has been quick to show her support!
“[Maddy’s] out every day. The neighborhood knows her,” Jade shares. “She has her regulars. I was in the living room and I seen that there was a teenage boy there and I knew something wasn’t right because he was helping himself. He was taking the lemonade, cup after cup, and then crushing them and throwing the cups, like at her, on the lawn.”
When Teens Rob a 7-Year-Old’s Lemonade Stand, Her Community Has Her Back
The support started when Cst. Duke, the officer who arrested the teens, returned to Maddy’s home for a glass of her famous lemonade. But that’s just the start!
As word quickly spread about what had happened to Maddy, the Saskatoon Berries Baseball formulated a plan to give the 7-year-old the spotlight she deserves!
“Jam Fam! We’re not gonna let a couple rotten berries ruin this gals summer,” their post reads. “Maddy and her big sister will have their lemonade stand set up at our game TOMORROW night in the plaza. Let’s show her how sweet we all know Saskatoon can be!”
To say that the Saskatoon community showed up for Maddy would be an understatement! This young entrepreneur was delighted by the love and care she received during last night’s game. So many people lined up to get her lemonade, helping the little girl feel safe and supported. What a beautiful way to combat such a scary, sad experience!
“Maddy, you can sell lemonade at our games whenever you want,” the Saskatoon Berries Baseball shares.
