It can be tough to come up with fun ideas for date night, especially when you’ve been in a long-term relationship for a while. So, one couple decided to get particularly creative during their romantic evening together. Their unique date night idea involved lots of colorful clay and perhaps a little more attention to detail than they were initially expecting! It looks like they had the best time, though.

In an adorable slideshow on social media, a woman posted photos from what she called “clay date night.” During their foray into the sculpting arts, she and her fiancé attempted to recreate a variety of cute figures using packets of clay in different hues. To demonstrate how well they’d done, she compared pictures of the original designs to their own creations.
“Clay date night with my fiancé but it progressively gets worse,” she joked in the post.
Here’s how the couple’s clay sculptures turned out.
At the beginning of the slideshow, the woman shared an image of a darling little pickle sculpture with a tiny smile on its face. Then, she showcased her and her fiancé’s respective attempts to recreate the character. Hers was pretty close, but her partner’s didn’t quite make the grade. However, the man more than made up for it by adding some hilarious details to the figure, such as eyebrows and a hat!
For their next project, the couple tried to fashion a small frog with blushing cheeks and a wizard’s hat. Once again, their results were pretty different. While the woman had done her best to copy the original, her fiancé added his own spin to the sculpture. What’s a frog wizard without a wand, after all?
One deceptively simple clay figure the couple attempted during their date night was a white goose sitting with its legs out. Although this bird wasn’t wearing any detailed accessories, it looks like the shape was still pretty difficult to recreate. Both partners seem to have had some trouble with the animal’s body, as their sculptures were a bit lumpy. However, this time they each supplied their own special touch to the creature. While the woman put a dapper necktie on her goose, her fiancé gave his a little hat.
There was one more clay critter that the couple tried to recreate during their date night: a tiny mouse wearing an even tinier chef’s hat! For this challenge, both partners mostly stuck to the prompt, though their hats were different colors.
Although the woman had jested about how terrible some of their clay figures had turned out, we’d say that most of them actually looked pretty good! More importantly, it seems like the couple had lots of fun. Would you try a clay-sculpting date night with your partner?
