Nicole could have easily decided to not go canoeing — she was 20 weeks pregnant, after all. It would have made sense if she didn’t feel like partaking in such an adventurous outing. But because she did, a lost dog was saved. Nicole and her significant other were enjoying the river with their own dog when, suddenly, they spotted another four-legged friend at a distance. But there wasn’t a single human, canoe, or anything else near the seemingly lost dog.

So, the couple decided to investigate. It didn’t take long to confirm that the dog was alone. Soon, however, they made another discovery: The dog is blind. To ensure she got to safety, they carefully placed her inside of their canoe. Luckily, their own dog didn’t mind at all. She was too busy splashing around in the river, as seen in the video below.
@nicolestrachanx That one time we found someone’s lost dog whilst canoeing🥺 She had been missing for over a week, was 15 years old and blind. We spotted her on the river side looking lost, we picked her up and put her in our canoe and called the owners ❤️ They couldn’t believe she was alive. A lovely reunion and grateful we went on an adventure that day, even if I was 20 weeks pregnant 🤣🥵 #storytime #story #lostdog #happyending #rescue #fyp #dog ♬ original sound – avery77777
Thankfully, this sweet pup was returned to her owners soon after this video was recorded. Turns out, the poor 15-year-old pup had been missing for over a week. Needless to say, her owners were absolutely elated to get a phone call from Nicole! Though, at first, they were scared. In fact, the first thing they asked when it was clear the call was about their dog was this: “Is she dead?”
“They couldn’t believe she was alive,” Nicole shares in the caption of her video. “A lovely reunion and grateful we went on an adventure that day, even if I was 20 weeks pregnant.”

It’s incredible what can happen when we take the time to help others. It’s no wonder Nicole’s story is inspiring others to share their own.
“Someone saved my dog like this. I think about her every day and how much more time I have with him because of one stranger’s kindness. You changed someone’s life,” one person shares, another adding, “My in laws deaf half blind dog was missing for three months. Thought [no way] she survived the woods on her own. Rancher called saying he spotted her with a pack of coyotes. Lived another 9 years.”
