There’s a lot to love about the elaborate Christmas display at Mark Cornetti and Nasheel Joules’ home — quite literally. Their entire two-story home is completely covered in festive lights and decor. Even their front lawn can’t be seen, all thanks to the countless number of inflatables, lit-up archways, and strings of Christmas lights.

It’s taken over a decade for Mark and Nasheel to get their home to be this festive. And, in doing so, they attract a flock of admirers every year. This tradition is a joy for everyone involved, of course, but the story behind why this got started is far more emotional than you might imagine. It all started when Nasheel was diagnosed with an autoinflammatory disease called CAPS.
Nasheel symptoms are triggered in cold temperatures. Sadly, this makes it incredibly difficult to participate in most Christmas activities. This was only made worse when the disease started to affect her heart, giving her stage three heart failure.

As someone who loves Christmas, this was particularly difficult for Nasheel. Thankfully, her loved ones are willing to go above and beyond to bring the spirit of the season right to her house. Learn more about this special holiday tradition in the video below.
So much has changed since Nasheel and Mark began to go all out on their holiday decor. While it’s still about bringing Nasheel joy, it’s also about spreading joy to the community. Plus, it has turned into a great way to spread awareness of heart disease. They even partner with the American Heart Association and raise money!
“When we saw what it does for people that come and see it, you know, the smiles and the laughter,” Nasheel shares, “it really became more about doing it for them and not so much about doing it for us.”
