Sledding is always a favorite winter activity. Children and adults will be on the slopes from the first snowfall to the last. At La Habana Farms in Bonham, Texas, it doesn’t always snow a lot. The small town northeast of Dallas-Fort Worth averages only one inch of snow yearly. When the snow flies, so do the sleds. And this year, it wasn’t just the humans; the cow herd wanted to join the fun of sledding, too.

As the farm work was put on hold, the sleds came out, and the sliding commenced. The workers turned children were using a flat, flexible sheet of some kind as a makeshift sled. The cows frolicked along beside them, dancing and bouncing in joy. The cows happily ran up and down the slope while the workers were sledding.
While the cows enjoyed the sledding, the goats were not as impressed with the snow. One little fellow attempted to sled, but his enthusiasm was lacking. The herd dog seemed to enjoy his ride down the slope. The goats mostly wandered around, wondering when it was time for the warm barn and supper.
And then there is Bella, the sassy sheep. The farm hands think Bella is already a little off her rocker. She was so happy about the snow that she completely flipped. She bounced and cavorted around in the snow like a bucking bronco in a rodeo.
Watching farm animals play in the snow can be interesting. Most people would not have guessed that cows like sledding. If you would like to follow the adventures on this small sustainable farm, you can follow them on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
