Breakups suck. This is a fact that most of us can agree on. It’s certainly one that’s all-too-familiar for Fallon Thompson at the moment. Not long ago, her boyfriend unexpectedly broke up with her. He officially ended things while they were in the driveway of her home. In turn, the young woman’s dad, Scott, saw the whole thing happen. He was heartbroken over how devastated his daughter was about the relationship ending.

Luckily, as someone who has experienced his own fair share of heartbreak over the years, he had some wisdom to share. In a few lengthy texts to Fallon, this thoughtful dad gives some of the best most comforting advice. Now, it’s viral on social media!
The first part of his message, as seen in the image above, Scott gives an overview of his own relationship history. By being open with Fallon, she’s able to understand just how much he can relate to how she’s feeling. Then, in his next set of messages, he shares why there is reason to be grateful for what happened.
Dad Sends Thoughtful Texts of Wisdom to His Daughter Post-Breakup
“Some of the best advice I will ever give you is this,” Scott starts, “When someone lets you know that you are not for them, deal with the pain and hurt with the knowledge that this person just gave you back the most valuable thing in the world — your time.”
“It was just one of those texts that’s so sweet you just sort of want to cry,” Fallon shares. “So I sort of teared up a little bit and I was like, ‘Wow, like, regardless of where my relationships may lead me in life, I know I’m always gonna have my dad and my family. That’s the most important thing to me.”
As if those kind words weren’t enough, Scott goes on to use a powerful metaphor to help his daughter view her pain in a better light.
Although folks from all over are loving everything Scott said, they’re especially loving the metaphor about cows and bulls. Fittingly, Fallon herself already has a bull skull tattoo — how cool is that?
Dad’s Wise Texts Help Strangers on Social Media
In addition to helping his daughter feel better, Scott has also helped strangers from all around the world. Although this wasn’t his intention, of course, he couldn’t be happier to hear that his wisdom is helping so many people.
“I was just trying to, you know, pour a little bit of wisdom into my daughter and give her some perspective,” Scott says. “It’s really cool that this helped out some other people and to me, that’s the best part about it.”
